2011: Dubai Shopping Malls
Group’s (DSMG) National Day promotion came to a triumphant close on December 2,
2011, with the announcement of the final group of ten lucky shoppers. The mega
draw which was carefully timed around the National Day celebrations saw the winners
leave Burjuman Centre, the venue of the event, with up to AED 400,000 worth of
prizes in cash and Rivoli gift vouchers.
The DSMG promotion,
was held for 40 days and rewarded a total of 40 lucky shoppers of 18
different nationalities who entered the draw by filling in raffle coupons upon
shopping for AED 200 at any of the 21 participating malls. Four draws were
organized during the promotion and in every draw, ten lucky shoppers were
chosen each for winning 40,000 dhs worth of prizes.
The ‘Shop & Win’ promotion was specially organised to
celebrate the 40th UAE National day and has been one of the most successful
campaigns organised by DSMG in recent years. The promotion appealed to adults
and children alike, with the children being powerfully drawn to the events by
the entertaining stage performance of the Aladdin show. The collective
promotion also offered several chances to win leading to 40 winners of 18
different nationalities.” said Majid Al Ghurair, Chairman, DSMG. “The promotion
proved to be a great success and DSMG achieved its objective of re-energising
Dubai’s retail trade as all participating Malls have shown impressive growth in
business. We at DSMG feel very proud to have put together such a successful
event in celebration of the 40th UAE National Day.”

As a result of the popularity of the raffle
promotion and the good reputation of the shopping experience in Dubai, the draw
which was organized in celebration of the 40th UAE National Day witnessed enthusiastic
participation of over one million customers. As per DSMG statistics
footfall in participating malls increased by 12% during the 40 days of the
promotion as reported by participating malls.
“This promotion has been an excellent draw for customers and it
has managed to keep up the flow of excitement throughout the run up to the 40th
UAE National Day celebrations. The fact that the concept of this promotion was
built around the National Day celebrations has helped garnered a lot of
enthusiasm amongst the residents of the UAE and drawn a lot of footfall to our
mall.” Said Eisa Adam, General Manager, Burjuman Centre and Board Member, DSMG.

The ‘Shop & Win’ raffle promotion leveraged the season of
the 40th UAE National Day to offer customers 40 exciting days of special offers
and sales. In addition to the prizes on offer, customers were also treated to a
creative stage performance of Aladdin, a captivating show that kept the
children following the raffle draw events to various malls.
“I enjoy taking part in the raffle promotions because I am a very
lucky person. I have won in many promotions before and I knew I would be lucky
again. I was so happy when I got the call from DSMG, especially because the
draw was held during the National Day celebrations.” Said Essa Abdulrahaman a
UAE national and one of the lucky winners who won the prize after shopping at
Mirdif City Centre. “I will use the money and the gift vouchers to buy a watch
for my wife and I. I will definitely try my luck again in the next promotion.”
Seven year old, Mazin Noufal Mayan, was at school when his
parents got the call. “Our son is a very lucky boy . He always wins trophies at
school and when we told him he had won, he thought he had won another trophy”
Said Mazin’s father. “We had been trying to win and we put in many raffle coupons
with all our names one them; but we knew that it is Mazin who would win because
he is the lucky one in the family. He wants to save his money and we will help
him do that.” “I was so happy when mom and dad told me I have won! ” Said a
cheerful Mazin Emiline Pimeda, another lucky shopper and a Philippines national
met with her good fortune after shopping at Mall of the Emirates. “I was at the
office when I got the call saying I had won. I did not believe it, yet I was so
excited! I had tried my luck in the first raffle draw when the ‘Shop & Win’
promotion began but I was not lucky. This time I put in my coupons at the very
last minute and I am now glad that I did.” Said an excited Emiline. “I love
shopping in Dubai because the malls offer a world-class shopping experience.
The service is exemplary and there are a wide selection of international
products to choose from. The chance to win is the icing on the cake and I am
looking forward to the next DSMG promotion.” Emiline also added that she would
spend some of the money to start building a house for herself back home. “I
will also use the Rivoli gift vouchers to get some Christmas presents for my
family.”
DSMG’s ‘Shop & Win’ promotion was available across 21
leading shopping malls in the city including Arabian Centre, Al Bustan Centre,
Al Ghurair Centre, Al Manal Centre, Al Mulla Plaza, Bur Juman, Century Mall,
Deira City Centre, Dubai Festival City, Gold & Diamond Park, Ibn Battuta
Mall, Lamcy plaza, Mazaya Centre, Mirdiff City Centre, Oasis Centre, Reef Mall,
Souk Al Bahar, The Dubai Mall, The Dubai Marina Mall, The Dubai Marina Walk,
The Mall of the Emirates. Winners were free to redeem their Rivoli gift
vouchers at any of the Rivoli outlets in the UAE. These include stores of
Rivoli- Instyle , Rivoli Prestige, Rivoli Arcade, Rivoli Eyezone, and Hour
Choice – stand-alone locations.
